Practicum Experience:

  • Capital District Psychiatric Center (CDPC), Albany, NY, (January 2000 to May 2000)
    • Provided individual and group therapy intensive care adult inpatient unit at state psychiatric hospital.  Primary diagnoses seen included affective disorders, psychotic disorders, impulse control disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual disorders, and personality disorders.
    • Conducted comprehensive psychological assessments including mental status exams and intelligence testing.
  • Kaiser Permanente, Northeast Division, Latham, NY (September 1999 – December 1999)
    • Provided intake evaluations and individual cognitive-behavioral brief psychotherapy in a HMO operated outpatient clinic.  Populations served were primarily adults.  Primary diagnoses treated included mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and impulse control disorders.
    • Co-therapist for several therapy groups including depression support group, anxiety management group, stress management group and panic management group. 
  • Albany Medical Center, Psychiatric Liaison Department, Albany, NY (June 1999 – July 1999)
    • Provided psychological consultation to medical units for adult inpatients with psychological/behavioral issues in a hospital setting.
    • Performed complete mental status exams, as well as generated reports comprised of psychiatric histories, diagnostic assessment information and treatment recommendations.
  • Psychological Services Center, SUNY Albany, Albany, NY (September 1998 – May 1999)
    • Screened, assessed and provided cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy in a University based community mental health setting.  Populations seen were primarily adults.  Primary diagnoses treated included mood and anxiety disorders.
    • Provided long and short-term individual and family psychotherapy.
    • Attended seminars addressing professional issues such as psychopharmacology, child abuse, suicide and legal and ethical concerns in psychotherapy. Attended case conferences.
  • Connection, Libertyville, Illinois (January 1994 – April 1994)
    • Served as paraprofessional counselor for telephone crisis hotline.  Used a crisis intervention model to answer crisis calls on a wide variety of issues from alcoholism to suicide.  Provided mental health and/or community service organization referrals.
