Psychotherapy

Treatment of mental and emotional disorders through the use of psychological techniques designed to encourage communication of conflicts and insight into problems, with the goal being relief of symptoms, changes in behavior leading to improved social and vocational functioning, and personality growth.

Individual Therapy
The one-to-one relationship in individual therapy provides a safe space to explore issues impacting a person’s life.  Psychotherapy provides an opportunity to address issues in one’s relationships, view of oneself, and other areas of difficulty.

Family Therapy
Family therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves all the members of a nuclear or extended family.  This approach regards the family, as a whole, as the unit of treatment, and emphasizes such factors as relationships and communication patterns rather than traits or symptoms in individual members.

Group Therapy
Group therapy is a form of psychosocial treatment where a small group of patients meet regularly to talk, interact, and discuss problems with each other and the therapist.  In a group therapy session, group members are encouraged to openly and honestly discuss the issues that brought them to therapy. They try to help other group members by offering their own suggestions, insights, and empathy regarding their problems.

We are currently hosting the following groups:

Women's Support Group
This is an ongoing group for women addressing issues of self-esteem, relationship difficulties, health, life transitions, loneliness, depression, anxiety, loss and grief.

(We are currently screening for members of the following groups):

Parent's Support Group
This group focuses on challenges of parenting. It provides both an educational component that teaches parenting strategies to manage behavioral and develpmental issues, as well as a supportive component to help parents cope with the stresses of parenting.

Interpersonal Skills Group
This group focuses on teaching skills and strategies for building successful relationships. The group addresses personal and work relationships and also provides a supportive environment within which to explore the obstacles that prevent members' relationships from being successful.
